Letter from the Artist

I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. The colors and vibes of the southwest greatly influence my work and color choices.

Art and design are my passion but were relegated to a hidden hobby until 2012. While living in San Diego, I began painting live during church services and I was hooked. I knew art was something I had to pursue more seriously because creating art became a compulsion and I was drawing inspiration from the diverse artistic community in San Diego.

In 2015 I moved back to Arizona where I became the artist in residence at Zoe Community Church in Peoria; it’s where my studio resides and I still paint live on Sundays.

Krazo is a pseudonym I paint under. This word in ancient Greek means to “cry out” or “shout out”. It can be used as praise or a lament. It’s a word I believe encompasses the spirit of street art which often represents the forgotten and marginalized. It says, “I’m here! You can’t ignore my voice”.

I strive to tell captivating stories with art and I have been blessed with opportunities to paint murals for schools, churches, and small businesses. I’m continually inspired by the beautiful state of Arizona and look forward to telling captivating stories through my art for years to come.

grace and peace,

Zach Rollins (Krazo)
